The polyvalent flexibility enables multiple forms of occupation: user-driven scenarios will organically evolve and can be of short or long duration. Different types of habitation, co-habitation, work-live scenarios, co-working offices and workshops emerge next to each other. In this scenario, long and short term inhabitants will be integrated in communal dynamics, participate in shared activities and benefit from mutual support. There is space for constant negotiation of the adaptive boundaries between public and private, with domains expanding, contracting and intersecting if desired.

With Future Hybrid Highrise Commune, we demonstrate an optimistic application of digital platforms as an opportunity to encourage participation processes on a communal level, fluctuating between physical and digital encounters. As a result, life in vertical communities develops a new form of urban vibrancy. The building is complemented with a digital twin, taking virtual representations of its spatial structure as a canvas for interactive and mutually negotiated occupations and collaborations, for the sharing of spaces, expertise, commodities and services.
